Octo Octa is the alias of Maya Bouldry-Morrison, an American DJ and producer celebrated for her emotionally rich and genre-blending approach to dance music. Her sound weaves together classic house, breakbeats, acid, trance, and ambient textures, often infused with personal and spiritual themes.
In 2016, Bouldry-Morrison publicly came out as transgender, a pivotal moment that deeply influenced her subsequent work. Her 2017 album Where Are We Going?, released on the queer-focused label Honey Soundsystem, marked a more overt expression of her identity, blending uplifting house rhythms with introspective themes.
In 2019, she co-founded the label T4T LUV NRG with her partner and fellow DJ Eris Drew. The label serves as a platform for queer artists and emphasizes the healing and communal aspects of dance music.
